Andrey The Extortionist

I sold a fancy clock awhile ago. Said buyer says "pack carefully" and claims breakage on previous clocks. This screams red flags, but I send the clock anyway.

3 days later, he sends me a message bitching that a 1" piece of wood was missing off of the corner of the clock floor (Underneath. It cannot be seen unless you pick up the 20 pound clock and look), then bitches that the movement doesn't fit. He obviously looked hard to come up with complaints, though one was actually mentioned in the listing. I had said the movement didn't fit.

He demands $45 back. I tell him to return it, and ignore him for a few days. He again demands $45 citing all the work he was going to need to do. Fuck you, asshole. That clock needed nothing but a new movement and front door, I did all the cosmetic grunt work. It spent 2 weeks in an electrolysis bath, I sanded it, finished it with steel wool, painted it with 4 coats of paint. Rebronzed the accents. It was set up to be a showpiece. A person could sell the movement that was in it to buy the right one, which was why I included it. I was just fudging it using that movement for myself, because it was supposed to be MY clock and I didn't care. I only sold it because I was really short on cash that week and I needed to pay bills. Never again!

The last clock such as the one I sold him went for $499. He paid $150. In my description I mentioned that the clock had been a project that wasn't finished. I report him and block him and send him the $45 to make him fuck off.

Meanwhile, I look at his feedback. Another seller mentioned he demanded money back. He also apparently buys these clocks cheap, pairs them with candlesticks, takes a fancy-looking picture and then resells them for double or triple what they cost him. I e-mail another seller that sold him the same clock the day after he bought mine and apparently this is a habit. He tries to keep his costs as low as possible so he can have a bigger profit margin, so he extorts sellers for a discount.

Got this message today:

"got well packed but broken glass last week, thanks, gary"

This was a question asked on a pair of candlesticks. I have never sold to this guy, nor have I ever heard of him until today. I looked at his feedback left for others. Numerous complaints and thanks for the refund.

Blocked.
