The Great Depression - eBay style

I went to an auction last night. All the things I bought seemed like a good thing. These are things that normally make a decent profit, but this week, I will be lucky to double my money.

First, there are several other doll piranhas that drive the bid up. I like to pay 10-20% of what something will sell for. I was forced into nearly 50% in some cases.

Then there's the 18% buyer's premium and tax added on at checkout. Then eBay charges .35 per listing and then 10% of it and shipping at the end, then Paypal takes .30 and 2.9% more and 1% more if you want it right fuckin' now. This, coupled with the rampant cheap-asses that think you should give your shit away and ever-rising postal rates are really making me consider setting up a booth somewhere to sell out of.

Last night when I got home from aforementioned auction, I had offers. Oh joy. $1.50 on a $4.00 item, $4.00 on a $7.95 item, and so on and so forth. I declined them and immediately was met with an incredulous "No counteroffer??" Uh no, cheapass. You've already shown me that you don't even want to pay start bid, which is my rock-bottom, so why, pray tell, would I bother counteroffering? Fuck Yooooooooooooooooo.

This morning, minutes before another auction was about to end, the high bidder of 4 days suddenly messages me and say "Please cancel my bid, I made a mistake" Yes, asshole. A "mistake" you had 4 days to rectify. Then another cheap-ass comes in hot, 3 minutes before another one ends and want a dollar and change off. FML. I already price my stuff very reasonably. I look up each item and list it for a shade less than anyone else who has the same item and I charge exact shipping.
